(May-July)
9:00 am Saturday morning swims vary in location and distance (3-7 miles). Each swimmer must bring their own kayaker, food, and hydration. If interested, email Emilio, or call 637-8331. See 2008 Schedule for Distance Swim Training.

Every Sunday we swim at Butterfly Beach:

Sunday Swim

  • Meet at 9 AM at the last set of stairs. This swim is called "Four Palms to Red Hut".
  • We leave from the stairs far from the Coral Casino and swim along side of the beach to the " Red Hut " and then back to the " Four Palms "
  • We encourage anyone to participate, and because we swim parallel to the beach, a swimmer can do any portion of the 50 minutes, until he or she is acclimated to the cold water.
  • Swim is about 1.25 miles.
  • While the weather is still good and the temperature of the water decent, some of us start the swim at 8:30 am and go beyond the red hut (now defunct) to swim a longer course. We still finish at 10:00 am with the rest of the swimmers.
  • Wwe have installed 5 buoys at Butterfly Beach in order to entice swimmers to go longer distances, and know how much they have swam. The yellow buoy is at the start of the swim what we call ….4 palms. The 1/4 mile buoy is along the shore. The 1/2 mile buoy is just about the Coral Casino ( today towerless ) The 3/4 mile buoy is by the end of the apartment buildings. The mile buoy is at the beginning of the Miramar Beach.

Every Wednesday and Friday we swim at Goleta Beach:

Goleta Beach

  • Meet at noon at the beach by the exterior shower (next to the lifeguard tower).
  • The swim is about one mile, perhaps a bit under. Optional longer swims during the summer distance training.
  • Buoys are in place in the summer
